What is a Bank Whistleblower?
A Whistleblower is someone who raises a concern about a wrong doing within a banking organisation. The concern must be a genuine concern about a crime, criminal offence, miscarriage of justice, dangers to health and safety and of the environment – And the cover up of any of these.
If a person wishes to raise their concerns they should obtain a copy of their organsiations whistleblowing policy and seek advice. In the first instance calling BankConfidential prior to reporting the matter could help you to avoid mistakes, specifically if you wish to remain anonymous.
When is raising an issue not Whistleblowing?
Complaints about a banks treatment of you in relation to employment terms, job roles etc. would not be reportable concerns, or potentially PIDA disclosures and these issues would likely be the subject of Grievance Procedures.
Whistleblowing can only refer to situations that have arisen within a current or ex workplace. If you work within the Banking sector and believe you have witnessed a criminal offence or other wrongdoing at work but are not sure what to do next, then contact BankConfidential today.
